Why Flyers Still Work Locally
A trader's ad budget reached the whole state. The buyers were two hundred metres away.
A trader spends on social media ads that reach people across the whole state, most of whom will never set foot near the stall. The customers who'd actually buy are the ones walking past within two hundred metres of it, and the ad budget never reaches them any more precisely than it reaches everyone else.
Flyers solve exactly that mismatch. A flyer handed out or posted around a specific market, street or neighbourhood reaches exactly the people who are physically present there. It needs no targeting settings, just distribution in the right place.
Because bulk print runs are cheap, that precision doesn't cost a media budget to achieve. Consumer research also suggests printed material still carries a trust edge: a meaningful share of people say they prefer flyers and printed marketing because it feels more personal than another ad in an already-crowded feed.
What actually decides whether a flyer works is the same thing that decides whether any ad works: placement in front of the right audience. A flyer for a market stall works handed out at the market, not left somewhere unrelated because it was convenient.
For a trader or small business working a defined local footprint, the fix for wasted ad spend is often simpler than a bigger budget: print for the two hundred metres that actually matter, and hand it out there.
